The Chrysanthemums was a really interesting story to me. I
really like how detailed they were and how in depth they were with the
personalities. Elisa was my favorite
character in the story because of how she began to feel. I am definitely on her
side because she felt that women should not be put in a box. Being that this
story was written in 1938 which is a totally different era from where we are
now, she had to be really strong-minded to even think that. Her husband was
trying to figure out her motive of why she was acting so strange but I felt
that she did not even want to bring it up because she knew that he wouldn’t
understand. I felt her pain.
